The Genome and a "Creator"
what was he thinking?
The Apologia
The genome is a code, computer programs are code, computer programs are written by programmers therefore the genome was written by a creator.
The Anapologia
"Code" has many meanings.
The genetic "code" is the correspondence of amino acids encoded by various triplets of DNA bases via triplets of mRNA (codons).
Parts of the genome sequence are the recipes that the genetic code can use to translate the sequence into a polypeptide which can form a protein or enzyme or have some other function.
In Computing, programming has only recently been called coding. A program is a list of instructions, not a code. Programs are compiled into machine instructions. Nothing is decoded.
Computer programs can also be created by algorithms that progressively refine the instructions to give the desired output.
Programs can in effect be evolved in the same way that genomes are evolved. No programmer or god required.
Messenger RNA (mRNA) is produced from the antisense (template) strand of DNA and so is identical to the coding strand with uracil (U) substituted for thymine (T). Each 3 letter codon prescribes a particular amino acid or is a stop instruction.
